About Sue Ellen Haning:

Sue Ellen Haning is a forty-year-teaching veteran whose passion is teaching children to read. She has published articles on teaching and lives in west Texas. She is the mother of three children, Jarrod, Jake, and Jenny. Her life was drastically changed when she spent three months backpacking with her daughter. The adventures, near misses, and other crazy notions her daughter, Jenny, kept her in for three months stretched Sue Ellen in every direction, especially outside her comfort zone. "Once I stayed outside my comfort zone long enough, I realized there is a new world out there, and I now reap the gifts of experiencing life on a deeper level." My next book How To Be a Successful Nut will help you enjoy life outside your comfort zone.

Parelli Natural Horsemanship is another pasttime. My horse, Tronie, is my teacher.

For my 60th birthday I wanted to do something new, so my two sons decided to teach me to eat fire. Needless to say my comfort zone melted.

Much of my time is spent with Tronie my 12 year old gelding studying Parelli Natural Horsemanship together. This picture was taken in Pagosa Springs, Colorado, at the Parelli ranch where we attend classes each summer.

Gardening is a spiritual pastime of mine. This a picture of the very garden that Rachel watered and weeded in the hot west Texas sun while I was traipsing around Italy.
